The Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer Latitude EQ Base gives you the ability to match the tilt of the Star Adventurer mount to the latitude of your observing site. Using the Star Adventurer equatorial wedge allows for more precise polar alignment than guessing via the use of the ball head or video head on a photographic tripod.
Give your Star Adventurer a solid mounting platform
The Sky-Watcher Latitude EQ Base mounts directly to your heavy-duty tripod. The wedge mounting plate provides a very stable platform for the Star Adventurer, which connects to the mounting plate’s 3/8” threaded bolt. A stopper at the front end of the mounting plate can be raised into position to keep the Star Adventurer from sliding forward while you secure it in place with the over-sized lock knob.
This solid wedge has a latitude range of 0 – 70 degrees
To make adjustments in latitude, turn the large knurled knob that is located near the base, below the latitude indicator scale. The latitude range on the scale goes from 0 degrees to 70 degrees. You can also make horizontal adjustments by turning the smaller knob that lies just beneath the mounting plate lock knob. A bubble level, with an accuracy of one degree, is located near the Horizontal Adjustment Knob to give you a visual indication when the wedge is horizontal.
