Sky-Watcher 127mm Maksutov-Cassegrain Telescope
Sky-Watcher’s Skymax 127mm Maksutov-Cassegrain scope offers the same ultra-sharp views you’d get from a 127mm refractor, but without the size, weight, and price tag.
Versatility meets portability
The Maksutov-Cassegrain optical design is a favorite for both terrestrial and celestial use. Its correct image optics and high-contrast views make it ideal for use as a spotting scope. With 127mm of aperture, this telescope can easily go from observing deer at long range during the day to viewing the Moon and nebulae at night. But the Maksutov-Cassegrain truly excels when viewing or imaging the planets, thanks to its f/12.1 focal ratio.
The 127mm Skymax weighs in at under 10 lb. If you want lots of light gathering ability, but need to limit the size and weight of your telescope this is an excellent option. You’ll be able to easily carry this scope on an airplane or take it along on your next camping trip.
About the Maksutov-Cassegrain
Although it’s not as widely known as the refractor or Newtonian reflector, the Maksutov-Cassegrain offers superb optical performance. Using a Maksutov corrector lens on the front of the optical tube and a series of mirrors, “Mak-Cass” telescopes correct for visual defects like chromatic aberration and coma. The result is bright images, pinpoint stars, and high contrast views at a fraction of the price of competing designs.
Accessories included
The 127mm Sky-Watcher Skymax includes several high-quality accessories: a 6×30 straight-through finderscope to zero in on your target with ease, a 28mm 2” eyepiece, and a 2” star diagonal for more comfortable viewing. The scope is also equipped with a standard Vixen-style dovetail bar for mounting on most standard altazimuth or German equatorial telescope mounts.
