The Meade 9mm Illuminated Reticle Eyepiece is perfect for guiding on a star during deep-sky astrophotography sessions. Just slide it into a 1.25” off-axis guider or in the focuser of a dedicated guide scope.
Quality Series 4000 Plossl Eyepiece
Meade designed their higher magnification illuminated reticle eyepiece (they also offer a 12mm) by starting with Series 4000 9mm Plossl. This eyepiece has a four-element optical design, and is fully-coated for brightness and good contrast. A removable rubber eyecup blocks stray light and provide comfortable eye placement.
A precision micrometrical adjustable x-y position control on the side of the eyepiece itself allows you to move the crosshairs to make the centering of your guide star easier.
Fully illuminated, adjustable double crosshair reticle
When you look into the Meade 9mm Illuminated Reticle, or IR, eyepiece, you will see a double crosshair with two concentric targeting circles. The illuminator uses a red LED to fully illuminate the crosshairs and help preserve night vision at the same time. The brightness can be adjusted up or down to accommodate personal preference or guide stars of different magnitudes. The illuminator comes with your first set of batteries.
