Hotech 2″ SCA Self-Centering Field Flattener
High-Quality Optics Designed for Refractors
This 2″ field flattener, a fully multi-coated two-element lens, produces the highest light transmission efficiency without giving up any valuable light your telescope has gathered. Works with f/5 to f/8 refractors. With the Hotech 2″ SCA Field Flattener, you’ll see clear, crisp images over the entire field.
Eliminates Drawtube & Visual Back Slop
All drawtubes and visual backs have engineering tolerances. The SCA’s rubber rings extend radially per the user’s own modification to fill the gap. This means your field flattener will be placed securely in your drawtube/visual back, integrating with your telescope system for a solid, consistently reliable installation.
Eliminates Unstable Thumbscrew or Unified Compression Ring Locking
The optical axis fluctuates when an inserted device is secured by a thumbscrew. In some instances, some crudely made unified compression rings can result in unstable tilt when locking in the drawtube because of relaxed tolerances between the compression ring, inner groove, and the irregular tip of the locking thumbscrew in a drawtube. The SCA accommodates your camera without requiring a thumbscrew or unified compression ring.
Allows for Drawtube & Visual Back Imperfections
Rubber rings close the gaps brought about by tiny blemishes inside a draw tube or visual back and automatically center your camera in the tube. Furthermore, even if the draw tube diameter is only marginally disturbed, the SCA’s rubber rings will still make up the difference and dependable center your camera.
Short Profile Prevents Oscillation
A short profile design maintains the stability of the installed camera under windy conditions from low-frequency oscillation transferred from the telescope. The necessary back focus distance for this non-reducer flattener, from T-thread shoulder to the CCD chip, is 55 mm.
Dampens Vibration
The generally adjustable constriction of the rubber contact dampens undesired vibrations from the telescope and gives you a solid attachment to your telescope for image capture stability.
Accepts 2″ Filter Threads
The SCA Field Flattener incorporates a standard 2”/48mm (M48-P0.75) filter thread. The t-ring thread is suitable for all sorts of 35 mm camera models.
SCA Brings your Camera to the Closest Optical Axis in the Drawtube/Visual back for BEST Imaging Result
To capture great images from your telescope, it is essential to position your camera firmly in and on the optical axis of your drawtube/visual back. The SCA T-Adapter center loads your camera in the drawtube/visual back with a simple threading of a compression ring forcing the built-in rubber rings outward radially, thereby centering the camera in the drawtube/visual back for optimal installation.
SCA Eliminates Drawtube/Visual Back Slop
All drawtube/visual back have manufacturing tolerances. And it requires larger diameter to accept various eyepieces and adapters. When the camera adapter is inserted, the gap between the drawtube/visual back and the inserting device became a slop problem. The rubber rings in the SCA expand radially according to users own adjustment to fill the gaps. This makes your camera seats firmly in your drawtube/visual back becoming part of your telescope for a secure and repeatable installation.
SCA Eliminates unstable locking from thumbscrew or unified compression ring
The optical axis is shifted when the inserting device is locked in by thumbscrew. In some cases, some poorly made unified compression ring can cause unstable tilt when locking in the drawtube due to loose tolerances between the compression ring, inner groove, and the uneven tip of the locking thumbscrew in a drawtube. The SCA T-Adapter adapts your camera without using the thumbscrew or the unified compression ring.
SCA Accepts the Imperfection of a Drawtube/Visual Back
Small imperfection inside the drawtube like dents and scratches, the rubber rings fill the gaps and faithfully centers your camera in the tube. In addition, even if the drawtube is slightly deformed in diameter, egg-shaped, the rubber rings in the SCA will compensate for the differences and faithfully centers your camera.
Short SCA Profile Prevents Oscillation
Short profile design keeps the installed camera stable from low-frequency oscillation transferred from the telescope in a windy environment. The back focus of a 2″ SCA T-Adapter is 19mm(0.75″) and 1.25″ SCA T-Adapter is 18mm (0.71″) measured from drawtube shoulder to the bottom T-Thread.
SCA Damps Vibration
The all-around adjustable tightness rubber contact damps unwanted vibrations from the telescope provides you a sturdy attachment on your telescope for a stable image capture.
SCA Accepts Filter Thread
2” T-Adapter has built-in 2” (48mm) filter thread, and 1.25” T-Adapter has built-in 1.25” filter thread.
SCA T-Adapter is a dream come true for astrophotographers.
