Discover the sky in WiFi
Let your smartphone or tablet be your window to the Universe with AstroFi, a new telescope from Celestron that works with your mobile device. This affordable telescope offers built-in WiFi connectivity so you can locate and track celestial thousands of celestial objects with just a few taps of the screen.
Once you’ve selected an object to view, Celestron’s high quality 130mm Newtonian reflector reveals your favorite celestial objects in impressive detail. The largest in the AstroFi series, the Newtonian features a parabolic mirror for brighter, shaper, aberration-free images. You’ll observe Jupiter and its moons, the rings of Saturn, the Pleiades star cluster, the Orion nebula and more of the most stunning objects in our galaxy and beyond. One look through the eyepiece and you’ll want to take AstroFi under the stars night after night.
Celestron SkyPortal app: the best way to navigate the night sky
With your AstroFi 130mm Newtonian reflector and the SkyPortal app, you’ll never have to look at a star chart or wonder which objects to view with your telescope. Simply hold your device up to the night sky to instantly identify any star, planet, or other bright object. Tap an object to view more detailed information and press “GoTo” to center it in your AstroFi’s eyepiece. As you view the object, you can listen to hundreds of SkyPortal’s audio descriptions, immersing yourself in a multi-sensory experience.
If you aren’t quite sure what to view, tap on the “Tonight’s Best” menu to view a customized list of everything currently visible based on your exact time, date, and location.
Easy setup gives you more time to enjoy the view
As soon as you turn on AstroFi, it begins broadcasting a WiFi signal within a 30-foot radius of the telescope. Connect to the telescope’s network with your mobile device (or devices–up to 3 can connect at once for the ultimate star party!).
Next, SkyPortal will guide you through the simple SkyAlign procedure, asking you to center any three bright objects in the eyepiece so the telescope can triangulate its position. From there, you’re ready for a full night of celestial exploration!
AstroFi includes two eyepieces and a red dot finderscope and comes together in minutes. It runs on AA batteries, which you can easily swap out for extended observing marathons.
